A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Absheron Logistics Center and Xi’an Terminal
03.11.2025A delegation led by Ye Niuping, Mayor of Xi’an of the People’s Republic of China, paid a business visit to the Absheron Logistics Center. During the visit, the parties discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of economy and logistics.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Absheron Logistics Center and China’s Xi’an Port. The document, signed by Ziya Aghayev, Chairman of the Board of the Absheron Logistics Center, and Yuan Xiaojun, General Director of Xi’an International Port, provides for the establishment and strengthening of comprehensive cooperation, the promotion of experience and information exchange in the field of entrepreneurship, as well as the creation of a sustainable environment for a long-term and reliable partnership.
In his remarks, Yuan Xiaojun, General Director of Xi’an International Terminal, stated that expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in transit transportation and the development of the Middle Corridor has already become a necessity. According to him, the signed memorandum is an important step toward enhancing the potential of the Middle Corridor and optimizing cargo flows along this route.
Yuan Xiaojun also emphasized that the expansion of cooperation will contribute to strengthening integration in the railway transportation sector between the two countries and increasing the efficiency of shipments.
It should be noted that the first rail export to China was successfully carried out via the Absheron Logistics Center on 24 November 2024.
As one of the largest logistics infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan, the Absheron Logistics Center plays a strategic role in ensuring Europe–Asia trade flows within the framework of the Middle Corridor. This initiative, which contributes to further strengthening trade relations between Azerbaijan and China, opens significant strategic opportunities for our country at both regional and global levels and enhances Azerbaijan’s reputation in the field of international logistics.
